When should I expect colleges to respond back to me?

I've submitted all my applications, SAT scores, transcripts, etc., last month and a couple in November.

When should I expect to hear back from them? I check my mail and email frequently but there were no news from them except invitations to open house and other stuff. Should I call them back because no one is answering my emails?
