When Pontiac or GM go bankrupt, do you get to stop making payments on your cars?

If you want your car repossessed and your credit ruined and sued for the balance on the loan you may stop making payments. You just go to a different dealer - but only for warranty work.

What if the dealership you bought it from had to close down? If not, is there ever a situation that it where could actually happen?
