white relations? ? Hi, I am currently a high school student who is trying to do his sociology project. My question as stated above is to find out whether or not racial issues focuses on black and white relations in the US, and also how it reflects racism in general because of it in general in the US. I would like to ask you for your most honest feed back on why or why not you agree or disagree with this question. Thank you for your time.

In my opinion, most racial issues I see, deal with, or hear about focus on white and black relations. So from my personal experience I say yes.

i dont agree mate i come fi scotland n it dont matter what colour u are here black white or whateva else most people dont care as long as ur a decent person dont get me wrong there is racism like everywhere else bt not much atall!

I would say, yes, but less so than say, 30 years ago. Nowadays the racial makeup of the United States is much more diverse than just Black and White. Hispanics (who are often a MIX between European, Native Indian, and African), and Asians have made the picture alot more complicated then just Black and White. Plus, now, more than ever, there are thousands of "mixed race" children being born every year. So, while race issues in the United States are probably more focused on Black-White, then say, White-Asian relations, nowadays race in America is not just a matter of Black and White. So, I would answer "Yes, but less so than it was in the past".

Yes, I think that is what happens or at least the media tends to concentrate on black and white relations. It almost makes it seem as if tension only exists between black and white people or between the so-called minority groups and the "majority." That is not the case at all because obviously there is racism within a race and between "minority" races. For instance within the Asian American community, racism can exist between cultures, so that some Japanese despise Koreans and vice versa, etc. Some Latinos hate black people and vice versa, etc.

However, I think that this focus between black and white relations is extremely important and reveals much about America and its history because the focus is the terrible and direct result of slavery and segregation in the United States.

So many other races! Yet it's the black and white that all attention is focussed on. why? Im not sure but according to people that I know who have been to the states, there are a lot states where the majority is white. However, it is because of the lack of information. Generalization occurs which then turns into stereotype then prejuidice and eventually racism. It is possible that people think that there is only black with three million different tints and shades.

Yes because historically, most racial tension was between blacks and whites simply because there weren't many others here at the time. The other immigrants are rather new to America when considering the scale of history.
