So when Obama is shot by some jerkoff skinhead, will his VP become president? What is the timeframe between the death and a new election? How does it work?

Its pretty sh!tty that America's two presidential candidates are Obama and McCain. I personally wish Clinton would have stayed in office for like 10 consecutive terms.

yes if anything happens to the president that makes him unable to lead (ex. death, illness, other) then the vice president takes over if something happens to him then its the speaker of the house etc etc

Vice-president becomes president and finishes the remainder of the term, then they have an election at the end of the term, as usual.
