I have a male single friend. I'm a married woman. We met 6 months ago and live in different countries. We normally contact eachother every 1-2 weeks via email or text. Now we have started having phone calls which I think are easier for him than emailing.
However I don't want things to get awkward as I fear I may have done already. After a recent call from him, I called him two weeks later. Ix for some information, then called 2x the next day when I hadn't heard from him. He called me back and and we spoke (normal fun conversation). He asked for a photo of me and I sent one and he sent me a text saying "I got your photo and card and speak soon". I called 2 days later because there was something funny in the card and I wanted to joke about it...He sounded surprised to hear from me but we talked for 15 minutes then he had to go into a meeting. He asked if he could call back in 2-3 days. Its been like 10 days and he hasn't called back. I admit this past month I have initiated some one way communication much more than in the past.
I was approaching the friendship like I would w/a girlfriend and not standing on formallity and calling when the mood struck. Are the rules different? Do you think I scared him off and thinks I like him more than a friend or that he is doing the friend thing and just busy (he works a lot and was away this weekend)?
My husband knows about the friendship and says I'm on my own on this one... any thoughts?
He's 40 and single and we've been in touch for 6 months. Email was so much easier...never thought I would say that, but the calls let me get to know him much better.
