When is the best time to hike the Grand Canyon?

Me and a friend of mine wants to hike the Grand Canyon.

One or two night hike as well as going on a white river rafting.

When is the best time to do this?

Is it best to hire a guide for the hike or can we do it on our own?
 
during the cooler months of October through April.

First, get a Grand Canyon Backcountry Permit Reservation Form. To get a permit form you can do one of three things
