I have been off of birth control since November because it was really messing with my body. Anyway, I am trying to take precautions and not get pregnant.

Anyway, my question is, is there a best time during the month to NOT get pregnant? Like I know when is a good time to get pregnant, like during ovulation, but is the rest of the month okay? I have heard that it is safe right after you have ended your period. Has anyone else heard this? Right now we are using the "pulling out method" until I can get in the Dr.'s to get an IUD, but I KNOW that is not a good method. I just don't want to end up pregnant, I graduate from college in May and this would be the worst time ever. Thanks in advance to anyone who knows this info!

You can have sex ONLY ON NOT-FERTILE DAY - Discover below - Fertile Days - Everything about contraceptive methods

There's not really a good time. Ovulation occurs around 13 days after the first day of your last period and sperm can live inside of your body for a few days. You can actually get pregnant before ovulation occurs. I got pregnant by having sex on the day my period was due....I ovulated late. If you really don't want to get pregnant then use a condom until you get on b/c.

here's what my gyno told me a very long time ago (which is why i only have sex when i use birth control and never trust the day number)
sperms can live inside your body for a few days. nobody knows exactly how long, but there have been cases of several days. so here's the deal: you have sex on an non-fertile day.... times moves on, you reach your fertile day, how do you know there isn't someone in the still swimming around waiting to catch your egg?
why don't you use the condom method? just until you get to the Dr.

For goodness sake, just use condoms.

The withdrawal method does not work as a method of contraception, and there is no 'safe' time in your menstrual cycle. Sperm can even survive for quite a while actually waiting for ovulation to occur.

i was in a similar situation with my bf a while ago before i was able to start birth control. THERE IS NO ABSOLUTE SAFE TIME OF THE MONTH TO HAVE SEX. i can't emphasize that enough. you can get pregnant having sex on or after your period. it is rare, but it happens. if you feel your bf is competent enough to continue the pull out method, then continue with that. but my biggest suggestion is to use both condoms and spermicide (condoms do break, i have experienced that one first hand). i know it sucks and if your bf complains tell him that it is your body and you need to be careful with it. if he loves you he will understand, after all, it is only temporary.

Well, condoms obviously help. You can get an ovulation test and it tells you when you are ovulating so you know not to have sex around those days. Also you shouldn't have sex 3 days before you start ovulating because the egg can become fertilized once you do start ovulating. You can also find a pregnancy site where you can put in the date of your period and they will tell you when you are ovulating. Also, you can get spermicide. I don't know where you can get it though, I never see it in stores. Wish you luck!

uhm id say period time is the worst cuz o.O pregnancy testing would be awkward.........
