Expecting baby #1!!!

Yesterday at my routine checkup the doctor found my BP a bit high, and some protein in my urine. He ordered me to do 24 hours of urine samples, and stay in bed the next day, return to the office and recheck. If I were diagnosed with pre-eclampsia, would that automatically mean bedrest? How bad does it have to get? I have 5 weeks left of work (school teacher) and I am 30 weeks pregnant. Thanks!
