When in the army after basic training and ait how long can you come home for?

I have heard that it is two weeks but i know this guy and he said that he is only coming home for one day then going to his duty station so maybe he is trying to surprise me or he doesn't know that he will be home longer or what so my question is would he come back after he leave his duty station maybe or he might really just get one day? thanks for the correct answers
