When in boot camp...(USMC)-several questions?

Do you get paid as soon as you arrive?
Is there a lot of studying and tests to do?
Are they hard?
Do you have some time to study for tests on your own?
How about homesickness, when does the average recruit start getting over it?
I think of myself as an insecure type of guy sometimes with fear of not being able to make it. Other people have more faith in me than sometimes I do. I know I am a fighter, but I'm scared of failing... I heard that in boot camp it's mostly mental and I think I can deal with that. I'm 27 years old in ok shape (currently working out) so take sometime in telling me what kind of exercises I should prepare myself for.

Any input is appreciated. Thanks Marines.
Please, do add some tips and hints if you like. Don't stick to just answering these questions.
I wasn't asking if the USMC are hard, I was refering to the written tests or study lessons.

I suggest geting 3 miles in 15 minutes or so. and pushups, pullups and situps are a must. I don't know much about the marines, but being in the military i can tell you that it is very stressfull. There are tests, especially when training for the Military operation specialty, you have to read alot about the corp and its tactics and RoE, you go to bootcamp to learn, so there is more to it then just physical training.

And i can't believe you just asked if the Marine Corp was hard. Dude, if you have to ask that question, maybe you should learn some more about the corp. your success on the job is a matter of life or death, and naturally the Marine Corp(including most active militaries and branches) take training Very seriously.

Hey don't listen to the moron who answered first. First of all 3 miles in 15 minutes is unheard of even for the Corps. Second of all its Military Occupational Service, and third of all you just a f*cking moron.

Im in the USMC delayed entry program. I'm pretty sure you get paid right as you get there, you will get a military debit card in which they put all your money. I couldn't honestly say anything about the tests, I'm also trying to get information on that. If your not, or don't think your in good enough mental health before basic, your going to come out extremely mentally strong. The Corps will build that up for you. Just keep working out, prepare yourself physically and mentally and you should eb good. That's what I'm doing, i'm leaving Jan. 11th. Best of luck buddy.
