I would not be surprised if Ichiro's speech were in Japanese. I know he speaks English with other players but he still uses a translator for most interviews.

Part of what makes him Ichiro is that he is a manic perfectionist. He does not like to appear less than perfect. This is why he has so many routines and quirks at the plate. This is why he still uses a translator even though teammates have told him his English fine.

If he does give his speech in English, you can bet that he will have rehearsed it as thoroughly as he polishes each of his bats before placing it in its own climate-controlled case.
