Either the disc is bad or the drive is going out.. That error is telling you that the disc can't be read... PC doesn't pop up with a message saying 'the disc cannot be read, please clean the disc", it tells you cyclic redundancy check.
If this happens with no other games that require the disc to be in to play, then it's your disc.
If you get this from every game you try at one point or another, it's the drive.
If you can't or don't want to deal with the hassle of replacing the game, look for a "no cd/dvd crack" for the game through google... Run any file through virustotal.com, if it comes out clean, it's safe to use, as long as the game is installed correctly (which it should be) then all you need is the crack and you do not need to worry about your computer reading the disc for information.
The only game I know of that needed special attention before you could play it without the disc, was Diablo 2, and that's from hundreds of games.... Find the crack and you should be good to go, no more errors... (and yes it's legal.. there's nothing illegal about having the crack, if you downloaded the game via pirating, it'd be a diffrent story, but most of that illegality would stem from the pirated copy of the game itself..)
