When I go to groom/tack up/handle this horse at my barn, he turns his rear end to me?

I've heard this is a sign of disrespect and I was just wondering if there was any simple way to fix this problem. He's a nice horse (he's also used for therapeutic riding, so he's pretty calm and gentle.) Thanks so much for your help =)
 
Although it sounds harsh, bring in a crop and don't exactly wave it around fiercely, but show him that you have it, and you are not afraid. If there's no response, give him a quick tap. That should do it...I had the same problem with a horse who was gentle in the arena, but was a sucker for tacking up.
