Back in the 60s Jaguar bought a company called Daimler. They sell fancy versions of Jaguars in Britain that bear the Daimler name. They never sold those in America. Now that they will be using the name lincoln on all the cars and trucks sold in lincoln-mercury dealerships, Lincoln will not sound exclusive anymore. If Ford held on to the right to use the Daimler name, They can start a new hi-end brand called Daimler selling cars made by Ford of Germany. Daimler is one of the oldest car brands and people may think it is a Daimler-Benz product.
