when ever i shut my gameboy sp off it restarts my game entirely even if its

charged it is the sp or the game? the game im playing now is pokemon silver (for the heck of it) and in order to get through the game entirely i have to leave my sp on or it will start the game over i was wondering if maybe i need a new sp or a new game cartrige
