...escapees? Also how did the aboriginals treat the new comers? With hostility?
 
Yes they would track them down not there were not many places to go "The incredible journey of Mary Bryant" is story about a convict woman on the run.
The Aboriginals were friendly but this changed when they started to eat the settlers livestock.
 
No they would not. at the beggining there was a little bit of a search, but as time went on, the convicts were given to a settler for working purposes. in some cases, a convict could be given to his wife as a house helper, meaning they could live and work in harmony. there are also stories of convicts running onto a boat and being accepted as free workers, meaning the captain would turna blind eye to their convict outfits and names.
