When do you think the merger will be completed with alltel?

By completed I mean I can buy phones from Verizon. I am ready for a phone upgrade and I don't want any of the alltel ones cause they stink. They need to hurry it up! When do you think the merger will be fully completed?
 
Even when it is fully completed, you will still need to fulfill your full term with the Alltel agreement before getting a Verizon device.

To give you a date though: October 2009 it should be complete.
 
I have to wait till AFTER the merger is complete right? I haven't tried or asked anybody from alltel but I have went to the store and looked at their phones and none of them were from verizion. I really want the env touch. :)
 
Is your store one of them slated to be sold by Verizon? If it is, then you might want to wait to see who's going to get it. The Alltel store here is going to go to AT&T if all the rumors are true.

Is there a Verizon Store in your Town? If there is, then I would just head over there, port your number over and get your Touch.

Also, and I'm sure someone will correct me on this if I'm wrong. But, Alltel is still going to be Alltel, and not Verizon. They are just going to own the company is all.
 
Alltel and Verizon and the other affiliates only have until October 2009 (unless an extension from the FCC is requested) to get rid of the Alltel name. This means all mergers must be completed by then. They really didn't "merge"...Verizon basically assumed all responsibility for the company...merging generally means that each company will hold an equal partnership in the company....that's not the case here.

To the original poster: When your ready to upgrade, you can get a Verizon Wireless phone. You don't need to wait. Remember, no matter what, when you change phones...you'll need to get a Verizon plan.
 
OK, So I am a alltel member with a alltel plan and phone. It broke, so I purchased a verizon phone and tried to activate it today. The alltel people said I couldn't right now. They also said they will be sending out a mass mailing soon stating that Verizon phones can be activated on Alltel plans for alltel customers after the merger is complete, and they are stating mid August is when that is going to happen.
