Hi im in the Army and i had a baby girl 4 weeks ago. It states in the Army Regualtioms and JSP's that you can take up to 11 weeks before your baby is due, so for example if you are 29 weeks pregnant then you can apply to leave on Maternity. However this does mean that it eats into your Maternity Leave as a whole so its best to save your weeks of Leave. I Worked till about 4 weeks of my due date and i was very comfortable in doing so, my regt were very supporting and allowd me all the time off for Antenatal and doctors appointments. I work in the Admin side of the army so if you have any other questions to do with leave and pay then im quite confident to answer your queries as im a military clerk as well as just going through the very same situation myself.
Please dont listen to the peopole comments abbove mine it is absolute RUBBISH!! Maybee 20 years ago it worked like that but trust me ive just been through it all and its nothing like they've described!!!! Shame on those simple minded people..... know ure stuff before you answer someones question in future peeps, its not fair on Missa to say such Crap!
