Been together nine months and we were talking about how things would be if we got married. We have had little discussions like this before. This time he started saying that we would have a Lake house and a wake board boat. I mentioned that I had no desire to purchase those things and I would rather focus on the family and he got real defensive and said it has always been his dream and said we will have a lake house in ***** Tx and we ill have a wake board boat. I said that I felt like major purchases should be agreed upon and he said well its always been his dream and the family would always be taken care of but we would have those things period. I was just concerned with the form of communication because I felt that in a relationship there needs to be more compromise and aggreeance than that. It was all about him in that moment. He doesn't seem to understand my point of view in this he just got real defensive. Any advice?
I really dont want to crush his dreams, I just wanted better communication instead of demands. Thats all. I felt like maybe we could compromise on a second home somwhere someday where we may both enjoy. That is a huge purchase! One of the biggest purchases youll ever make!
