When did you fall in love with poetry?

Funny enough, I feel in love with peotry when I was incarcerated in Juvenile Hall when I was about sixteen years of age. A lot of thinking, stress, one day, while at group activity our hour out in the activity room, we were assigned an assignment to write a poem about our experience so far in Juvy. I wrote a poem, and from then on I never stopped. Amazing, how a week in adolescent jail can really change someone's life in that aspect.

What about you?
awee shirley I am so sorry about your father dieing of cancer=/ my prayers go out to you and your family

I think reading nursery rhymes, light poetry in school, and the Bible, drew me into the written word. I started writing as a teen to help with the anguish I felt when my father became sick and died of cancer. I've always done a lot of writing during turbulent times in my life.

When I started used it as an outlet... dealing with family problems before and during my parents' divorce.
Started around age 11, peeked at age 14, and is steady now at 17.
I really wanna start writing again. Reeeally writing.
-But alas, there is no motivation and/or inspiration in my life right now. That is my excuse. And that is what I'm sticking with. lol.
