The reason I ask, is two-fold. I've hear that the more computers involved in an engine system, the more complicated it can be to repair. Also, the less computers, even computer free, and it will likely be able to survive and EMP (Electro-Magnetic Pulse), which would be another desirable characteristic. Was there a specific year when they started adding computers to Chevy Truck engines? I'm looking at a 1985 Chevy Silverado with a 350 engine right now. I'm just wondering if any part of the electrical system would use micro-circuitry, including the engine. If so, what year did Chevy trucks begin to have computers help run the engine?
