It seems like each group of new high school graduates gets dumber and dumber. I am 25 so not too far from high school, but I know I learned things in school that more recent grads seem to have trouble with. This was my first semester as a GA (graduate assistant) and I had so many freshmen who seemed to be barely literate. I would get essays turned in written in "txtspk" and the students acted like that was a normal thing. Needless to say none of them knew MLA style which I know I learned in high school.
