When did the new shape Mazda 2's come in - was it 2007 or 2008?

Im looking at used Mazda 2's just now as my Punto was written off recently but I prefer the newer shape ones and was wondering when they came in. I get a mixed bag when I search the internet and want to narrow my search a bit.

2010 as far as I remember....they never had the 2 until recently, it is a new car for the USA market...

Unless you are referring to the Mazda 3 that has been in the USA since like early 2000's, they even have a bad A** tuner version called the Mazda 3 speed (remember anything in Mazda with speed in name means Turbo)
