When cartoon characters go on reality TV

I figured that since Drawn Together, the "reality series" about cartoon characters living in the same house, has a new episode this Thursday on Comedy Central, I'll post this topic. This is about cartoon characters who have been on reality TV, other than Drawn Together, in their series.

For example, from Family Guy, Brian, along with Quagmire, were on The Bachelorette.

Can you think of any other examples?

Crudely animated, but I thought it the multipart "Survivor"-storyline was funny as heck... (GRANNY (after being voted off/seeing a ship's come for her): So long, suckers!) :-)

In "Cyberchase", one episode centers around an attempt to capture some firefly-meets-butterfly creatures (per a contest the Hacker sets up for the cybersquad kids). Another episode centers around a "Iron Chef"-type cooking show that Digit and Hacker both compete against each other in...

A recent Season 11 Arthur featured in the "Buster Gets Real" episode a REALITY SHOW spoof called "Top Supermarket".

A season 10 Arthur episode called "What's Cooking" (with guest voice Ming Tsai of PBS' cooking show "Simply Ming") featured 2 reality show spoofs on "Iron Chef" and "American Idol".

"Pelswick" was the subject of his own reality series...at least until he came up with an original idea.

According to the executive schnook overseeing it, "If we have one original idea, we'll need to come up with a second, and where are we going to get that?!"

I can't tell you how much I miss that show.

On "The Tick", Tick and Arthur appearing on the superhero version of "Cops".

On "Jackie Chan Adventures", Jackie and the family appearing on a "Survivor"-style TV show.

The Season Seven premiere of South Park "Cancelled" was a premiere of reality show according to the commentary, with the entire earth being one big reality show. IMHO they did a better parody of reality shows in "Professor Chaos" with the bacholrette parody in picking the new best Friend Kenny.

I think Family Guy though was one of the first to do some kind of reality show parody. At least back in the "Screwed The Pooch" episode where Brian was on Survivor. Speaking of Survivor, Cartoon Network did a funny set of shorts years ago called "Staylongers" about the Cartoon Cartoon and the classic cartoons facing off in a survivorish game. Can't find it around anywhere but it was pretty funny.

Total Drama Island is a new show Teletoon has been airing since July. The show is an animated spoof of the reality TV genre, and sees twenty-two teens competing in various challenges at Camp Wawanakwa, a run-down summer camp somewhere in Muskoka, Ontario. The show was created by the same people who did 6teen, and some of the voice actors from that show are the voices of characters on Total Drama Island. You can check out images from the series, including storyboards, at the official blog.

Did you know that on The Boondocks, the Freemans have been on both Pimp My Ride and Extreme Makeover: Home Edition - on the same day of taping!

And on Kappa Mikey, when Guano had writer's block, LilyMu started filming unscripted episodes, which resulted in the five cast members being filmed 24/7 a la "The Real World"...
