When can I talk on bluetooth while playing a game for PS3?

I would like to use bluetooth and have a conversation with my cousin or friends while playing a game but it won't allow me.

I want to be able to talk to them while playing a different game and not having to play the same game.

My cousin said that there's gonna be an update that allows you to talk and play two different games at the same time... but I don't know if that's true...

Is it true? and if so... when will the update come out?
