when buying a motocross bike. what sort of things should i be looking for?

its mostly going to be for terrain and joy rides for no more than a few hours but high speeds. maybe some jumping and trails. i need help. what kind of bike?? what shuld i look 4??

High speed? Id go with a kawasaki kx 250 or 500cc ..@ stroke...easy to repair...I have been riding for15+++and suzuki rm and kaw kx both are great and near same in many ways...... first look for mods upgrading exhaust and valve reed.. Shocks not too loose not to tight firm is great if you mx(jumps woopty doos wheelies trail hill climbs) The kx 500 is mainly for advanced or expert riders. the 250 is for all groups but not for begginers...just advancers moving up classes in racing terms.... Try a kx 250 with your choice of mods... stock alone is a beast tho
