...obligation to any money i owe them? i stupidly was the victim of a scam operated by novachannel in switzerland.
this company has since been raided by the police in july 2009 & all relevant companies assocociated with novachannel have been put into "Liquidation"
i did stupidly signed a peice of paper thinking that i was placing a "free advert" but then realised a few months later i was conned after demands of money were sent to me.

Do i still owe these people money as they are in liquidation?
what is liquidation?
will my account be passed on to another collection agency?

please advise me guys i know i been stupid but i need advise

When a company is insolvent the affairs of the company is pass to the hands of liquidators. They will ascertain whether there is any money left to pay to creditors or anything left for the owner. You have signed a paper stating that you owe them money for their services. The liquidators can claim against you as creditor. If you can proof that you are scamed you have a good case not to pay.

I think the receivers will be responsible for collecting all the debts in. However I am not sure what happens in the case of fraud or a scam. I would hope all outstanding debts would be void. If you are asked for any money I would go to CAB for advice as it's free!

Legally you still owe this debt. Now that the company concerned is in liquidation, a firm of insolvency practitioners would have been charged with collecting outstanding debts with a view to paying the company's creditors. The insolvency practitioners are looking to get as much money back as possible so they will try and recover most debts themselves rather than delegate it to a collection agency. Depending on how much money you owe compared to the company's outstanding debts will determine oh how far down the list you will be for collection. If you ignore all their calls and letters you will stand a good chance of getting away with not paying, that is assuming you don't owe a lot.
