Wheat Berries storage time

I am cooking up some wheat berries that I've stored, refrigerated, for
11 months. Is that to long to have kept them? They do not seem
rancid but I am suspicious they might be a little stale tasting.

Anyone experienced with wheat berries this old?

Thanks.

(I'm again watching purines in my diet, and whole wheat seems to
have a somewhat lower purine/protein ratio than several other
protein sources, if one believes various published figures.)

I keep mine in the freezer and they seem to keep indefinitely. Wheat
berries kept in the fridge will last longer than those unrefrigerated; they
will have a distinct odor if they have gone rancid. Give them the sniff
test and your nose will tell you if they are usable or not.
