what's your opinion on school uniforms/dress codes?

should a school have a uniform? if so, how strict do you think it should be?
or should a school have a dress code? if so, how strict?
what would a violation of dress code or uniform code entail?
if a school should not have any of the above things, why not?

i'm just totally curious as to what people think here
