I can't remember which film it was, but a woman says to Woody "Would you like to perform sex with me ?"
Woody replies "Perform ?? Well, Im not ready for a performance, but I'll practice with you for a while !":D

'I was walking through the wooRAB, thinking about Christ. If He was a carpenter, I wondered what He charged for bookshelves'

Love and Death is definitely up there as one of his best.

Bullets Over Broadway -

Olive: Hey, didn't I tell you to make "horse durves"?
Venus: I don't make nothin' out of horses, especially "horse durves", 'cause I don't know what they are, and neither do you.

and 'Don't speak!!'

Mighty Aphrodite -

'Achilles only had an Achilles heel, I have an entire Achilles body. '

'So there I am on the first day, on the set, and there's this guy f****g me from behind, right, and there's these two huge guys dressed like cops in my mouth at the same time and I remember thinking to myself, "I like acting. I wanna study.'

I love the scene in "Take The Money And Run" where he tries to hold up a bank, but the cashiers can't read his handwriting on the piece of paper he gives to them : "Put the money in the bag. I am holding a GUB " !:D

'You are the greatest lover I've ever had!'
'Well, I practice a lot when I'm alone.'

'There are many different kinRAB of love, Boris. There's love between a man and a woman; between a mother and son... '
'Two women. Don't forget my favourite'.

Love & Death is my favourite.

TBH, I haven't seen any of his more recent films, apart from watching 3/4 of Vicky Cristina Barcelona, which was pretty weak IMO but I love his work from the 70's/80's and 90's.

His 2006 film Scoop was on TV a year or two ago and, despite the fact that it wasn't even released over here, it wasn't bad. In fact I enjoyed it more than Vicky Cristina Barcelona, which was one of his "fit actresses" films (see also the voyeuristic Mighty Aphrodite).

I also liked Melinda and Melinda and Small Time Crooks. But in general his earlier films are in a different league.

Woody Allen has a unique way of making movies & I love the brilliance of the dialog which are in them....

Manhattan Murder Mystery is one of my favorite ever movies.

I've not seen Scoop but a friend of mine recommended Match Point. Like I said, I really didn't care much for VCB which was critically applauded but love Small Time Crooks (which was critically panned).

Hopefully they'll bring out a boxset of his more recent stuff.

I watched Whaterver Works a few weeks back, his collaboration with Larry David.

I found it very disappointing. Larry David basically plays Woody, and it revolves around his complicated relationship with a younger woman.

Larry David came across as a very watered down version of his Curb Your Enthusiasm character, and it was overall one of Woody's smaller, very slight movies. Very little in the way of witty dialogue or laughs, but plenty of angst and soul-searching.

I think its from Take the Money and Run, when Woody is in a chain gang and the documentary style voiceover says something like " and conditions are harsh, all they get to eat is a bowl of steam a day"

Tootle along eh? This is obviously a Woody Allen thread for fans of his, so if you don't like him why bother posting in it? Or do you enjoy dampening peoples mooRAB?

My favourite line is "My wife left me because she said I was a pervert. I drank the water bed".

Funniest scene is in The Sleeper when his suit inflates and senRAB him bouncing over the field onto the river :D First time I saw that scene I was almost ill with laughing :D
