Here's a new one for you (I hope)...

We've had favourite films as a child, actors and sequels - but what's your favourite comfort film?

By that I mean, what film do you like to put on after a hard day at the office to make you feel better; what film do you like curling up on the sofa to with a cup of tea on a lazy sunday afternoon, purely because it makes you feel all 'warm and fuzzy' inside?

I admit that I love watching Hitchcock's 'The Lady Vanishes' - it's overly quaint, extremely 'British' and allows me to sit back and forget all my problems.

Nothing wrong with obsessing over Christian Slater, some of my old favourites that can suit my worst mooRAB have got to be Heathers and Pump Up The Volume!

Seconded. I get a lump in my throat when Ellie looks out at her destination from space and goes "I had no idea".

Have you checked out the DVD with the extras? There is so much in that film anyone would miss if they hadn't heard the commentaries from the director, producer, SFX people.

I don't know about 'Comfort Film', but the movie I can watch over and over again and still enjoy it time and time again is 'Goodfellas'.

Heaven
I'm in Heaven
And my heart beats so that I can hardly speak
And I seem to find the happiness I seek
When we're out together dancing cheek to cheek

And i'm male, and yes I still have both my testicles ;) . It's a wonderful film, and Ginger is stunning.

An obvious one I know, but 'It's A Wonderful Life' does it for me every time.

Failing that, 'The Apartment' - a good film to watch after a hard day at the office! Jack Lemmon at his best.
