whats your fav scary movie

When a stranger calls (not the remake) There's no gruesome stuff in it, more psychological. It plays on a silly irrational fear of mine.

No favourites as such, always like the oldies from

Hammer Horror, Black & White Twilight Zones.

Modern scary films have no atmosphere.

Give me the classics anytime.

IT wasn't funny, Tim Curry was really creepy in it! My favourite would either be Misery or The Shining. But I can't watch either of them without seeing at least part of the film through my fingers.

Actually the scariest film I've ever seen (in context) was the Dead of Winter. Saw it with the girls from school when I was about 13 and was absolutely terrified. Would love to see it again to see just how scary it really was (probably not at all) but unfortunately you don't seem to be able to get it for UK viewing.

I thought the remake was just as scary as the first.

I think if you have a fear of being alone in a house and someone is stalking it, then this type of genre is going to put the bejesus up you.

The Exorcist scared the hell out of me as did Carrie......but these two films were pioneers for even worst and far more scarier films to come around that era.

But others that were unique around the same period were The Shining, Misery, When A Stranger Calls, The Omen, Don't Look Back, The Witch, Halloween, The Thing, Rosemary's Baby...............and then to our modern day Grindhouse type of horror.

I think that everybody has their own secret fear...and some films will scare, whereas others will not feel affected.

However, whilst there is fear, we will always use it to empower our fellow human beings......sadly :(

I think each of us knows that much is true.
