what's wrong with the sound on my MAC OS X and how do I fix it?

I leaned over my keyboard and hit a key that turned off my sound, it's not the F10 key either that mutes the computer. Whenever I press f10, f11, or f12, I get the volume adjuster with that circle with a line through it (like a no smoking sign idk what to call it.) I don't know what I hit and I can't hear my music or anything, help!
