I have a electrical short (I think but unsure where to trace it) which makes my 2001 Jeep Cherokee act very oddly. Basically with the lights out turn signals and 4 ways work. When I turn my headlights on my turn signals and 4 ways don't work any longer.
Here's the fun part, I had a Sportster Sirius satellite radio that was hooked into the cigarette outlet that required 12v to operate and ONLY with this gizmo docked and running I could have turn signals and run my lights. If I pulled my satellite radio out of its docking mount I would lose my ability to use turn signals with lights.
Other things I can clue you in is BUS5 is lit up on my odometer with ABS, ENGINE and AIRBAG lights luminated all the time at night with the lights on. Lights off they will occasionally come on but for the most part stay off. Rear Heater defroster is on all the time, rear window wiper totally inopp all the time. Heater turns off when I turn the lights off.
Ive already replaced the instrument cluster and TCP. Worked at first but from the looks of it slowly burnt out again. Any ideas where to start looking and tracing wires will be greatly appreciated. My guess is around that cigarette lighter.
