I have an '01 Chevy Impala. A couple of weeks ago my turn signals randomly stopped working while I was driving. No blinking arrow on the inside dash or anything. They eventually came back on about 10 minutes later. Next day, the same thing happened to have them back on a few minutes later again. They've been on since.
I also had a tail light out. I figured it was a bad bulb or something and blew it off. A few days ago, when I was loading something into my trunk I noticed it was back on. Weird.
That same night my car wouldn't start. When I turned the key there was a humming sound, but it would not turn over. I sat there for about 10 minutes trying to decide what to do when I tried one more time, it started.
Then tonight I was driving and the battery light came on while I was at a stop light and the car sounded like it was going to die. When I pulled away the light went off and it was fine. I noticed a little smoke coming from under the hood when I got home.
The only thing I've done differently to the car recently is I changed the driver's side window switch because it broke. So, now I'm wondering, did I do some kind of electrical damage to it from changing that or do I have a more major (maybe unrelated) problem?
