What Dreams May Come

I have a regular speed cruiser, coaster brake, banana seat, old school style. Lately the back of it has been giving me tough problems, and I don't know what it could be. At first, the rear wheel was centred wrong, and rubbed against the frame, so I straightened that out.... but it still wobbles and I can't get it to stop wobbling. Then, it started making this intermittent zzzzp-ing when I tried to ride it last night. It would be fine to ride for a few pedalstrokes, and then just kaput... just like walking slowly, but with way more effort. The weird sound it made was doing *something* with the wheel, because every time it would happen it would make the seat vibrate. So I walked it the rest of the way and had my friend's boyfriend take a look. He thought he fixed the problem, but lo and behold, it happened again! And worse! It worked for about 7 pedalstrokes, then I braked and it made this weird scratch-crunch sound, after which the brakes (coaster) locked up and I almost lost control. Now the back wheel is on straight, still wobbly, and won't turn at all. What's wrong with my bike?
