I have this 79 Mazda RX7 and for some reason whenever i shift or push the clutch in it makes this weird popping sound and it sounds bad, but after a while of driving it stops.....does anyone know what might be the problem?

Carburettors need cleaning out. FInd a place that carries Amsoil prodcuts, and buy a can of Amsoil Foaming Cleaner. If you can't find it, go to a Mercury boat store, and buy a can of "Power Tune." They are the same thing. Any way, remove the air cleaner, and spray the cleaner through every passagewy you can find. Open the butterflies, and foam things out there, too. Foam the outside of the carbs as well. You can even use the cleaner with the engine running at high engine speed. Follow with a Gum-out chaser. If this doesn't work, your engine 's rotary seals may be beginning to go. If you use the proper oil, it MIGHT help. THere are are only about 3 oils out there worth buying and using in this model. It should state on the label," designed for use in Mazda Rotary." You may need to do an engine flush to clean your rotary seals. Using the spray I have recommended will do most of this for you, WITH ENGINE RUNNING!!! E-mail me back with your results. Good luck!!

It might also be a problem connected to the start up motor. I am assuming it is a manual? You may want to get it checked out though! Almost definitely nothing serious :)
