What's wrong with my 2004 dodge caravan now!?

I was driving the other day and I had a quarter tank of gas. My van just died while I was driving like it ran out of gas, but the fuel light was not even on yet. Now each time I get near a quarter of a tank of gas, even before the fuel light comes on, my van starts to sputter like it's going to die on me.

its very possible the gas gage is off in it that will make it run out of gas at a 1/4 tank or more,at some time someone could have tried to sipher gas from it and if they hit the sending unit that can throw them off,either that or the fuel pump may have went out on it,you could actually be out of gas,try adding some to it then see if it will start,if so replace the sending unit,id also check for fire at the plugs to see if its getting any,that will make it shut off like that,if its the sending unit bad it wont make the low gas light come on,it will just stop running,good luck with it.
