I have a 2002 Dodge Intrepid SE 6cyl automatic. Its been a great car never give me any trouble. Last week all of a sudden the transmission decides to slip or something. For example starting off driving and it doesnt want to shift to 2nd gear so the manual says to pull over and put it in park shut off the car count to 10 and start it up and it goes. does this sound like the torck converter or something alot more expensive or is that alot of money on its own.The car has 165,000 miles on it and has been serviced on time alot. Please help. Sell it or fix it?

I'd personally sell it. Those cars are garbage and it sounds like you need a new tranny anyways.

sorry to say it bit i suggest that u sell it. Any money that you put into that car is like throwing it away, the dodge intrepds do not have a good resale value. Actually they are probably 1 of the worst cars out there . soory and good luck

I know exactly what,s wrong with your car, it is a Dodge intrepid, need I say more. It is a throw away car. Don,t waste a penny of your hard earned money to fix it!!!!!!!

You could be low on tranny fluid. My sister had a similar problem and a tranny flush fixed it.

Tranny computer or main computer could be shot.

The automatic trans is controlled by the computer, the reset you described is for the computer controls....
It is not a mechanical problem, it's a sensor....
