Iwas told that it needed a new EGR valve, whatever that is and does, but now I've got bigger problems. I believe my head gaskets are blown, because there is white steam comeing out of both exhaust pipes. I'm not bright when it comes to mechanic work. My Camaro is my life, just about, and I've been told that, give or take, it'll cost around $1500 to have the head gaskets replaced and the valves faced. This sucks and I really want my car back. It will start up and run but I refuse to drive it in fear of further damage. I was hoping it was something minor, but that's a big no...obviously. I'd do it myself but I'd need someone to walk me compleatly through it and be "step by step" with me. HELP!

You cant beat a man at his trade Pay to have it done this way you can trust its done the right and will get a warranty with the repair. It sounds like you dont know anything about cars quit being a tite wad. You can try to change the egr yourself they're like 50 bucks.
