Whats wrong with my 1990 Jeep Cherokee's Clutch and/or Transmission?

Well, i recently got this 1990 Jeep cherokee from a good friend.
It has been sitting there untouched for about 2 years basically, we put in a new battery, lights, etc..
I drove it for the first in in those nearly 2 years and I Stalled it out a few times, the road i drove it on was extremely bumpy ../ and i stalled it on accident once more turning and i saw some smoke(very little, just left side from drivers seat) coming from the hood, so i stopped and turned the car off.
Then, i started it up again, yet this time the clutch went it very, very easily. almost no pressure was givin back towards me.. and the shifting stick was jammed so i hit it a few times to unjam it and then it would be very difficult to move at all..
So then, it would move (still very very hard though) and the car would make these very weird grinding noises.. and i ended up getting it to drive back home, yet the clutch was still shitty so i had to force the shifter into neutral to push it backwards, into my driveway...

Please help, anyone?
