I have an automatic 1990 Honda Accord LX. Two weeks ago, I was turning on to a frontage road and I accelerated pretty fast. When I hit the gas, the car went into 3 and then 4 and kinda idled and wouldn't downshift. When I slowed down to get on the highway, if shifted into 3 at 30 mph, then when I would hit 50, if I tried to speed up normally, it would go into 4 and as if I slammed the gas pedal.
Last week, it did that a couple of time but for the most part, it drove normally. Then today it began doing it again. When I would hit 40 mph and take my foot off of the gas, it wouldn't downshift. Instead it would stay between 2 and 3. I don't know what's going on. Can someone please give me some troubleshooting tips? Thanks.
