Whats wrong with Facebook Chat?

My facebook chat is all weird.. I see peoples names popping up at the bottom of the screen but I can't read their messages.. I know I can send messages that they can read, but I can't see what I sent or their response.. Also, the same person willl pop up multiple times on the bottom of the screen if they send multiple messages. What's going on? How do I fix this?>
