The two main faults i hear people point out are:
1. Electric cars have no power. They dont have the "torque" of more powerful vehicles.
2. Recharging is a pain and cannot be done quickly.
But what most people dont realize is that there have been immense improvements in battery technology in the past 2 years. by manipulating the surface area of the internal parts and providing a direct path for electrons to flow to the core of the battery, researchers at MIT have created a lithium ion battery that can fully charge/discharge in seconds. They expect it to be commercially available with a few years.
This solves both problems. The battery can discharge more energy faster and to allow for a more powerful driving experience. recharging your battery can also be done in the same amount of time it takes to fill up your gas tank. So now i ask, what purpose is there to maintain our reliance on an antiquated 100 year old internal combustion engine?
"Never work in America. They are for babies. I hope this answers your question. I cannot be sure as I did not take the time to read it in my rush to answer first."
so if it drives the same as a gas engine and charges, at a power station, in the same time that your current car fills up at a gas station, then what is the problem? is it just that your an inbred idiot that stubbornly refuses to do something intelligent simply for the sake of being subborn? did you even read anything i typed? i wish the uneducated would just stay in the factories where they chose to be.
"Nothing is wrong with them. In fact, electric cars are the future.
Unfortunately, the technology is not here yet for electric cars to displace fossil fuel powered cars without heavy government intervention."
perhaps you didnt read my post. The technology is here. it is entirely possible to create an electric car with just as much power and that charges just as fast as an electric car.
"Most Americans have to drive long distances, electric cars can't go very far before having to be recharged.
If your entire life existed within ten square miles it would probably be a worthwhile purchase."
another person that just didnt read my post. gas cars run out of fuel as well, you just fill up at a gas station. if electric cars can charge in seconds then its the same concept, you fill up at a gas station like store.
