What's wrong with all my female fish?

Three days ago I noticed that all my female fish always stayed at the water surface...I said to myself "0h they're fine" then the next day I said the same thing...but on the third day I was getting kinda worried...

Do you think they're sick?

I noticed their gravid spot are darker and more "squared".

I think the surface thing is a symptom of pregnancy.

Just in case they are pregnant I set up two branches of string for the fry to hide in.

Here are list of female fish that are at the surface right now:
- red eye swordtail
- lyretail swordtail
- assorted platy
- assorted molly
- buenos aires tetra
- black phantom tetra
- fancy guppies

They all live in a long 20 gallon tank..

Thnx in advance.
I only have 14 fish in here..

Thinking of buying a 55 gallon aquarium and adding more females and a small pleco.

They could be pregnant. They also could be stressed out do you have a 1:2 male to female ratio? If you don't then the males probably chase the females around and stress them out. If you do then that tank is pretty close to being overcrowded if it isn't already.

If you have more than 15 fish in there then they are probably staying at the top due to lack of oxygen and / or being overcrowded.

i would say that they are pregnant or they can also be stressed out either because you have too many males and they are stressin them out.the ratio of male to females should be 1:2 that means that you need 2 females for every male or if not then they will get stressed out but if not then it could be that they are pregnant.also if they are trying to hide like behind the filter or heater or anywhere else from the other fish then that might be a sign of pregnany so if theya re eating alot too then that can be the problem they are just pregnant.also check the water maybe something is not right for them but if it's only the females then i don't think that's the problem.
