Personally, I think it's our misdirected arrogance and pride. We all want to have a share in the limelight of our fellow Filipinos known internationally, wanting our lives infused with theirs. It's kind of irritating to see our local media digging up the backgrounds of international stars to find Filipino blood in them and then claim it's "FILIPINO PRIDE!". We are too proud of our fellow Filipinos to the point of letting our lives go in the mindset that those people are out there living already our dreams for us. Too much pride is sort of our fatal flaw.
