whats the true defination of 'scene'?

people have been calling me 'scene/emo' [emos just a music genre not a real stereotype thing....so i just consider it pretty much the same thing] and i was wondering....what is the real definition of 'scene'? and do you think i'm scene? cuz i mean i don't really label myself...but i'm just curious ya know???
