I saw a film (or at least some of it) on TV in the early 90's, and for some reason the memory of it sticks with me. I remember it had some beautiful photography.
I think it was either French, Spanish or Italian (Oh, that narrows it down a bit!).
It was set in the early 20th century (I think?) and was about a beautiful, poor woman who married the local rich man. But, he had some kind of "Howard-Hughes-style" cleanliness fixation, and would not make love to her.
He became ill and died, leaving her his estate. Then she fell for the young bloke who was her gardener. And she alos had some sort of strange obcession with a collection of lace hand fans....
It's all pretty odd, I know. But, like I say, I keep remembering it. Probably because the leading lady was so gorgous. I don't really expect anyone to guess this one, because it is pretty obscure.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what it was called?
