What's the theme of "Relic" by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child?

It's a mystery novel. I have no clue what the theme would be. Ideas?
Okay, let me clarify. I HAVE read the novel. For my reading contract I need to identify the theme of the story and I'm having trouble figuring out what it would be. To me, the book was just an adventure read and not a you-need-to-learn-this-lesson read.
 
Was your assignment to read the book and then answer the question?
It's an excellent book. I'm sure you can find reviews on line if you choose not to read it.

I hate when people ask about the "theme" of a book. Especially after they have already read it. If I would have to say what it was though I would say anthropological adventure, this actually seems to be the theme with most of their books.
