..."reprint" cited on various forums? They all seem to mention "the Congressional Library" instead of the Library of Congress.
They almost always have this strange annotation:
"This is a reprinting of a letter from Pontius Pilate to Tiberius Caesar describing the physical appearance of Jesus. Copies are in the Congressional Library in Washington, D.C. "

To my knowledge it is not for sale.
A colleague once told me that it dates from the fourth century but others claim it is just another handy forgery from the Renaissance period. Whatever the case, it seems to be making the rounds on some of the Christian websites of late, usually accompanied by a second "description of Jesus" letter of similar indefinite provenance.
It's funny how the effort to make it sound "legitimate" has the opposite impact (kind of like the introduction to most spam emails promoting some hoax.)
